Coaches are needed for the upcoming season! Coaching is a lot of fun and rewarding and no previous experience is needed.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I sign up to coach for Howard-Suamico SAY?
Potential coaches can sign up to coach their son or daugther's team by completing the appropriate section on their child's registration form. HS will send you a volunteer form to complete or you can go to the application page and print the volunteer form. Complete the forms and return it to the address on the form.
Can I coach with a friend?
Yes, HS SAY allows 2 coaches to coach together per team. The children of these coaches will be placed on the team you are coaching. When signing up to coach on your child's registration form, include the name, address, and phone number of the other person you will be coaching with.
How old do coaches have to be?
Coaches must be 18 years old or older to coach. Coaches can bring in high school soccer players to help out, but there always must be an HS coach present to supervise games and practices.
Do I have to attend coaches training?
Yes, all coaches must attend training. Our training gives coaches the skills to work with the specific age group they will be coaching. Coaches will learn how to design fun practices which focus on their teams technical, tactic, physical, and psychological development. Training is provided at no charge to HS coaches.
How do I sign up for coaches training?
No advanced registration is needed. Go to the training page for a listing of dates and times the age specific training is provided.
How often do I have to attend coaches training?
Coaches must attend training every year to be eligible to coach.
What are the duties of a coach?
The Duties Page has the coach's duties in chronological order.
What are the coach's responsibilities and commitments?
The coach's responsibilities and commitments sheet gives all that information. This sheet will be provided at the equipment pick-up in April.
What are the expectations of HSP regarding players, coaches, and parents?
The listings of HS expectations regarding players, parents, and coaches should help answer those questions.
Who do I call or e-mail if I have a question?
All questions should be directed to the commissioner of your age group. The name and number of this person is located at the bottom of your team roster or view the Commissioners for the various age groups with e-mail and phone numbers to contact them.
Have a great season and remember our main focus is to provide our players an environment in which they will have fun and develop their skills to play the game of soccer to the best of their ability. If you place these two ingredients above winning, you will provide your player with a winning season.
